Learn how to set up File Zilla Server

How to Set Up FileZilla Server

  1. Download FileZilla Server
Get it here: FileZilla Server Download
  2. Run the installer
Follow the prompts until it asks for a password.(You can leave password blank, but it's recommended to set one.)
  3. Complete installation
When installation finishes, click OK and then Close.
  4. Open FileZilla Server
It will prompt you to “Connect to server”.
  5. Connect
Click **Connect**, and if you set a password earlier, enter it. You may enable **Save password** and **Auto-connect**.
  6. Approve the prompt
    Click **Yes**.
  7. Open the configuration panel
Go to Server > Configure. (It may take a moment to open.)
  8. Create a user
Go to **Users → Add**. Set a username and password.
  9. Set file paths
    - **Virtual path:** / (root) - **Native path:** The folder where your server files are located
  10. Allow FileZilla through your firewall
Open ports as if you were port-forwarding:
    • Select Program
    • Browse to FileZilla Server in C:\Program Files
    • Add **inbound** and **outbound** rules
  11. Make sure FZ Server is running
You can close the window — the service keeps running in the background.

How to Add Your GUID

Some hosts, dashboards, or FiveM server panels require your GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) for authentication. If you need to attach a GUID to this FTP setup, here's how:

  1. Go to your FileZilla user settings
Server → Configure → Users → (select your user)
  2. Add a "Description" or "Notes" entry
FileZilla Server has a **Notes** field for each user. Put your GUID there for reference.
  3. If your system requires GUID as username format
Simply set the username **to the GUID**. Example:
    GUID: 918f9201-d8a4-44f2-bcb2-af23a39d9c12
    Username becomes:
    918f9201-d8a4-44f2-bcb2-af23a39d9c12
  4. If your panel wants GUID inside the FTP path
    Set a virtual path like:
    /users/918f9201-d8a4-44f2-bcb2-af23a39d9c12
Then map it to the correct folder.

⚠️ Note: FileZilla doesn’t “use” GUIDs internally — you only add them when a system outside FileZilla requires GUID identification.
